Flour Tortillas

Ingredients:

3c. unbleached flour
2tsp. baking powder
1tsp salt
4-6 Tbsp. vegetable shortening or lard (I used oil)
about 1 1/4 cups warm water

Mix dry ingredients in a large bowl
Add vegetable shortening or lard. Or use a combination of half lard, half shortening. Use fork or a pastry cutter to cut in shortening or just do it old fashion way and use your hands.

Next add warm water a little at a time until your dough is soft and not sticky, You do not need very hot water.

Knead the dough for a few minutes

Now pull off pieces of dough to form about 12 small dough balls. Let them rest for at least 10 min, longer if you like.

Sprinkle some flour on each ball before you roll it out. Roll out in circles, picking up dough and turning it each time you roll.

Bacon, Broccoli, Cheese Potato Soup

Ingredients:

1 4oz packet of Idahoan Instant mashed potatoes (I like buttery homestyle the best)
4 slices of bacon

1/2 c. shredded cheese
4 c boiling water

Chop broccoli crowns to desired chunks and steam. Grate cheese or buy pre-shredded. Fry bacon until crisp. Add all of these to pan. Add mashed potatoes to boiling water and combine with the rest of the ingredients. Top with more cheese if desire.
